Jason Bourne(Matt Damon) has wanted only wanted two things for the last three years, to know who he really is and to evade the people who made him a supper assassin long enough to find out the latter. Bourne Ultimatum picks up after the car chase in Moscow at the end of Bourne Supremacy that leaves Bourne wounded. Bourne stops at a medical clinic and being to clean his wounds and treat himself when he begins to have flash backs allowing two of his pursuers to catch up with him. When one attempts to approach Bourne we begin what is nearly a TWO hour adrenaline rush, if we could harness and bottle the absolute rush that this movie provides us with it would most definitely NOT be FDA approved and probably banned in the US.
This is the last leg of the race for Bourne, time to find out who made him the supper assassin he is and why him. Paul Greengrass is unrelenting with his amazing camera shots and action sequences. But not only is the action spot on, we get a second or two of rest to fully enjoy it and then BAM! another amazing sequence.
On his way to Paris to tell Marie's brother she had died he notices a newspaper called the Guardian and an article about himself and something called Operation Blackbriar. Bourne then sets out to London to find scribe Simon Ross (Paddy Considine), the bloke who penned the article, but Bourne is not alone. After Ross utters Blackbriar on his cell phone he is tracked by the CIA and CIA official Noah Vosen (David Strathairn), who ultimately assigns one of his men to take out Ross and his contact. Once Bourne and Ross meet up at Waterloo Station we begin a hair raising chase that ends with the death of Ross and once again, Bourne's escape, but not without Ross's notes.
The notes reveal Neal Daniels (Colin Stinton) as Ross' contact this leads Bourne to Madrid. After an amazing action sequence in Daniel's now empty office Bourne reunites with Nicky Parsons (Julia Stiles). Prasons not only helps Bourne escape but tells him that Daniels has fled to Tangier, when he asks why she's helping him she hints at their association before his amnesia. Tangier is my absolute favorite of all of the locations, due mainly to the way Greengrass took full advantage of the terrains great versatility. I won't say much aside that this location alone is reason enough to watch the movie.
Bourne, with a bit of assistance from Pamela Landy (Joan Allen) and some clever tactics makes it into Vosen's office and gets his hands on the Top Secret Operation Blackbriar files. I won't give away the ending of the movie for those who are yet to see it but, it is nothing short of encompassing all that Jason Bourne is known for. If you need an action fix this movie is everything you could want, and more. The cast was amazing, especially David Strathairn as Noah Vossen, you can actually feel the fear he has for Bourne when he tells him he's in his office, in short he was brilliant. With action scenes to rival that of Jet Li and Jason Statham Bourne Ultimatum is a roller coaster of action and a must see for ALL fans of the series and action buffs.
